The last 233 passengers​ of Westerdam set to return home

On 19 February 2020, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport, welcomed the last 233 passengers aboard the Westerdam, approved by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister. Of the Kingdom of Cambodia last week.

10 Buses are prepared for the departure of the multinational passengers at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port to travel to Phnom Penh before the flight to their own countries. 

At that time, H.E. Sun Chanthol presented the Cambodian silk (Krama) as a souvenir for the 233 tourists.

The passengers, before being allowed to leave the ship, have already undergone a series of tests by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Centers for Disease Control (UNCDC) to make sure that no COVD-19 virus is present. Not only that, but the ship’s staff will also have to check the temperature before allowing the vessel to leave the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

Speaking to reporters at the event, Orlando Ashford, president of Holland American Line, the owner of the Westerdam, thanked Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Cambodian people as well as the authorities. Cambodia has a good heart, warmth, and care for its passengers and medical care that allowed the ship to dock at the port of Sihanoukville.
